You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. The Head Teacher will provide supervision and support to on-site Special Education Teachers working in our Devereux Day Academy. This position is a 10 month position located in Landenberg, PA. 

 

Salary: $58,885.05 - $67,128.96 (based on years of experience)

 

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

 

Every day as a Lead Teacher you will: 

  • Ensure student safety
  • Provide support, guidance and feedback to teachers
  • Guide and support teachers with the development of IEP's and classroom management skills
  • Support the overall professional development of the teachers by implementing training, coaching, and professional development

Devereux’s Approved Private Schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals. A multi-disciplinary team, including the individual’s parent(s) or guardian, regularly reviews the plan to discuss challenges, progress and adjustments to goals as appropriate. The Deveruex Day Academey located in Landenberg, PA offers education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  PDE special education certification required, master’s degree preferred

                      Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

 

EXPERIENCE: Successful teaching experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, experience in unit and lesson planning, experience in writing and implementing legally defensible IEPs, experiencing in administration of assessments and using data informed decision making. One year of experience preferred.
