Description

Position:  The Devereux Center for Effective Schools (CES) (www.centerforeffectiveschools.org), located in the greater Philadelphia region, is a nationally recognized not-for-profit research and training organization. The CES is committed to addressing the needs of children with and at-risk for developing emotional and behavioral disorders. The focus of the work of the Devereux CES is on establishing multi-tiered (universal, secondary, tertiary) systems of prevention and intervention to improve behavioral and academic supports at the district, school, classroom, and individual student levels. This mission is accomplished through training, consultation, model program development and applied research.

 

Primary Activities: The Consulting and Research Psychologist will serve as an applied scientist by

  • Consulting with schools and districts to improve school climate and student behavior;
  • Developing and implementing training programs to promote evidence-based intervention;
  • Participating in the design and implementation of applied research;
  • Contributing to the implementation and dissemination of currently funded projects;
  • Disseminating professional working including presenting at conference, and writing journal articles;
  • Design and train data collection and analysis tools and procedures to inform school-based practices
  • Generating funding through writing responses to requests for funded proposals (RFPs) and grant applications to federal, state or private (foundation) funding sources; and
  • Providing mentoring and supervision to staff.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Ph.D. in school psychology;
  • Experience in school settings;
  • Ability to oversee research/demonstration projects;
  • Training in applied behavior analysis;
  • Excellent writing skills and record of publication and/or local or national presentations; and
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Eligibility for psychology licensure is preferred;
  • BCBA or BCBA-eligible is a plus.
