We are currently seeking a full time Job Coach to provide supervision, direction, training and coaching within community based employment training sites to adolescents with Autism Diagnosis who are preparing to age out of the educational system at our School for Integrated Learning located in West Chester, PA.

 

Pay rate: $18.50 - $21.09 per hour (based upon experience and education)

 

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (52 week year round position)

 

Every day as a Job Coach you will

  • Work with team to assess skills and level of functioning/participation
  • Works with students to achieve a level of accomplishment and productivity that allows for greater employment independence
  • Acts as a liaison between the employer/community based employment site and Devereux
  • Documents progress and involvement of students
  • Provides information and input based on level of participation, functioning and progress to goals

The School for Integrated Learning focuses on building upon the unique strengths of each student. Our school strives to offer a breadth of opportunities for students to express themselves and find personal levels of accomplishment through activities such as: Special Olympics, talent shows and school dances, student government, peer mentoring, service learning, community gardening, and employment education, both in the classroom and in the community. The goal of the School for Integrated Learning is to create individualized educational opportunities that enable each student to live as a positive, healthy and socially-connected individual in his or her community. The School for Integrated Learning is licensed to serve students in grades K-12 who have been identified with the following primary disabilities: behavioral and cognitive differences, autism, intellectual disabilities and speech and language impairments. The core curriculum has been aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of our partner school districts. This innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed.  The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with learning experiences that foster increased engagement and success through differentiated instruction, evidence-based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals. A multi-disciplinary team, including the individual’s parent(s) or guardian, regularly reviews the plan to discuss challenges, progress and adjustments to goals as appropriate. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: HS Diploma required, Bachelors degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE: Two years experience working with adolescents and young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders in a transition and employment setting. Experience with applied behavior analysis techniques required.
