Description

Located on a beautiful 10-acre campus in the heart of Scottsdale, Devereux Arizona’s 24-hour Residential Treatment Center (RTC) has the capacity to serve 52 children. The RTC is a safe, supportive environment that provides various services to youth, from the ages of 5 to 17, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or substance abuse challenges. The Campus features dormitories, a therapeutic K-12 day school, food services, medical/nursing, and therapy services.

 

As a Food Service Specialist (Prep Cook), you will help prepare and manage food service operations while maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitary kitchen environment. This position follows federal and state guidelines in the planning, preparing, and serving meals to individuals and staff at the RTC. The Food Service Specialist sets up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment, as well as prepares ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.). This position ensures great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served, keeping a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen, ensures all food and other items are stored properly, and monitors stock and places orders when there are shortages. The Food Service Specialist also completes general kitchen cleaning duties (dishes, mopping, deep cleaning projects), organizing food storage areas, receiving deliveries, completing temperature check logs, and shift coverage as needed.

 

Pay: $18 - $19.80 / hr

Schedule: Wednesday 11:00am -7:00pm, Thursday/Friday/Sunday 6:00am-2:00pm, Saturday11:00am -7:00pm (schedules are subject to change)

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience in quantity cooking required
  • Have a valid Food Handlers card OR the ability to obtain one
  • Record keeping experience and must be customer service oriented

Other

  • Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 36-month history check
  • Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (OR eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)
  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (if applicable)
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results 
  • Must attend the one (1) week paid New Hire Orientation; Mon-Fri (8:30am-5:00pm) follow by 3 weeks of on the job training
