Every day as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the CARES School you will...

• Support a special education classroom team serving children and/or young adults with Autism.
• Manage health and wellness needs for one or more students. 
• Collaborate with educational and health professionals to provide educational, communication, and behavioral support in a safe and healthy environment.
• Collect and report educational and health data for students.

Devereux Center for Autism Research and Education Services (CARES) is an educational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that provides services to students, ages 5 to 21, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. CARES provides an environment that focuses on teaching each student based on his or her unique strengths and needs. Programming is focused on increasing independence for each student. The CARES School is part of Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services.

Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS)  serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and  approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives.

EDUCATION:  Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.  Previous clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare setting preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of recent clinical nursing experience preferred or completion of a Nursing refresher course. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms Strong organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.

Valid driver's license must be maintained.
