Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located in Highland, NY, this position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Consultation - will provide consultation and technical assistance to staff related to classroom management, behavioral interventions, and student-centered supports for inclusion. Will assist educators in developing, implementing, and evaluating positive behavior support plans. Collaborates with other school-based professionals and administrators to address individual- and system-level needs, and collaborates with families as needed.     
  • Training - will develop and facilitate professional development trainings for educators regarding evidence-based positive behavior support strategies. Will develop and facilitate learning opportunities for families of students. Assists educators in building and maintaining a level of expertise within the program regarding de-escalating challenging and complex behaviors presented by students.  
  • Direct Assessment and Support Planning - will conduct observations of school-based professionals’ practice implementation and students. Provides performance feedback in a constructive and encouraging manner and support professionals in developing plans to address areas of professional growth. In cases of chronic or complex student behavior, they will conduct functional behavioral assessments and guide positive behavior support plan development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Supervision - supervisor for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and those in training for RBT, and BCBA trainees that aligns with the supervisory guidelines of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Will provide coaching and supervision to educational staff to ensure staff adherence to behavior analytic principles. 
  • Documentation - will ensure documentation of all crisis prevention and/or intervention strategies used, notify all necessary parties, and follow up as needed. Will ensure IEP documentation includes accurate information for the FBA and BSP sections.

Salary: $66950 - $77147, commensurate with education and experience

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Master’s degree in education, psychology, or related field; Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential; BCBA supervisory requirements met or will be met for eligibility to supervisor RBTs and BCBA trainees

 

EXPERIENCE:  Prior experience working with students with behavioral needs. Prior experience conducting functional behavior assessments and developing positive behavior support plans.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   Ability to administer CPR.  Ability to administer first aid.  Ability to properly adminster physical interventions as trained to maintian the safety of individuals supported. Ability to create and maintain a therapeutic milieu.  Regularly requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, and pushing/pulling (1/2 to 3/4 of the workday).  Seldom requires sitting.  May require lifting up to 50 lbs. (1/4 - 1/2 of the workday).  Requires repetitive wrist/hand movement (3/4 to 4/4 of the workday). Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with co-workers and stakeholders in person and via telephone. Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances.  Often drives a Devereux vehicle or van.  Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated (1/2 to 3/4 of work time).  Some fluctuation in temperature.  Also, regularly works outside.  May work in wet conditions (<1/4 of work time)
