Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located at our Day Academy in Highland, NY, this position is responsible for facilitating the development and rehabilitation of students by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy. The OT will meet the student’s goals and needs and provide quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, and determine occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with treatment team. They will also help students develop and/or regain physical/mental functioning or adjusting to disabilities by implementing programs. They will promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual’s physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest. The Occupational Therapist will evaluate results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating students’ progress; they will also recommend and implement adjustments and modifications. They will consult with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers, as well as contribute to student conferences.
Salary: $74,752 - $79,984 annually

Education: MS in Occupational Therapy. Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board (AOTCB) and licensure by the NYS Education Department required. OTR/L
Experience: Six to nine months of related field experience required; one year preferred
Physical Requirements: Ability to administer CPR. Ability to administer first aid. Ability to properly implement physical intervention techniques. Ability to create and maintain a therapeutic milieu.Regularly requires walking, standing, bending, repetitive wrist/hand movement, and pushing/pulling (1/2 to 3/4 of the workday). Regularly requires sitting. May require lifting up to 50 lbs. (1/4 of the workday).
