Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located at our Day Academy in Highland, NY, this position is responsible for evaluating, remediating, and providing consultative assistance to unit staff on speech, language voice, and hearing problems that impeded student’s effective communication. They will evaluate speech, language, and voice disorders by screening and testing all students upon intake. They will prepare diagnostic reports on each evaluated student, including test results, remediation techniques for classroom/home unit use, recommendations for therapy, referral to appropriate outside source, etc. The SLP will also conduct individual and/or group therapy programs and prepare required reports to evaluate the progress of each student seen in therapy. In addition, they will maintain liaison and consultation with educational, and/or clinical staff coordinate program planning for students and recommend remedial techniques for staff implementation; determine speech/language abilities in educational settings to determine need for therapy or other remediation; and implement recommendations of clinical staff in regard to student's behavioral/emotional difficulties.
Salary: $52000 - $76380 per year; increases depending on education, certifications, and experience.

Education: New York State Certification in Speech and Language required. Master’s degree in Speech CCC-SLP. May consider CFY candidate.
Experience: Some previous experience remediating residents' speech and/or language difficulties in a school, hospital, treatment facility, etc. is preferred.
Physical Requirements: Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants or other chemical or controlled substances. Significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 25 lbs or more. Using standard crisis intervention procedures, must be able to singlehandedly effect the initial restraint of children and adolescents weighing between 75 and 150 lbs. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.
