This is a Full Time Heath Information Management (HIM) Specialist position working out of  our Malvern, PA location.  The position is responsible for the administrative support, daily management and implementation of medical records functions, including coordination and maintenance of the electronic medical recrods across Devereux Pennslyvania Childrens;s Service Programs.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Daily management and implementation of medical records funcitionsRetrieves records for medical staff, departments and other HIM customers.
  2. Screens and audits records upon discharge. Works with the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility and Community physicians and staff to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
  3. Communicate and provide guidance with programs via the Quality Improvement Director regarding program statistics, up to date forms, procedures, release of information and Health Information practices.
  4. Assists in compiling program and discharge reports. Maintains and processes all releases of information to authorized persons for discharged records.
  5. Provides administrative support to the QI Department including copying charts, answering phones, receiving faxes, maintaining minutes and reports for Quality Improvement Director. Attends meetings and responds to questions or concerns. 
  6. Receives and maintains filing system for discharged records. Files loose forms, lab work and any related information.  Provide HIM supportive services to decentralized medical records locations.
  7. Breaks down ad organizes closed charts. Scans charts according to scanning schedule.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED. RHIT or RHIA preferred.
  • One (1) year of administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency with computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Suite, Adobe and electronic health management systems.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, release of information, HIPAA, State & Federal Laws and regulations.
  • Excellent Customer Services skills with the ability to work well with physicians, other staff members, and external stakeholders.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
