Adolescent Habilitation Counselor


 

Do you want to make a positive impact in the lives of children and youth? At Devereux, our Habilitation Counselors support children, adolescents ages 6–21 with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Behavioral Health needs, Mental Health diagnoses, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional or psychiatric challenges. In this role, you will help youth build social, emotional, behavioral, physical, and self-help skills while providing structure, safety, and compassionate support each day.

  • Population Served: Children and adolescents ages 6–21
  • Pay: $20.25–$23.05/hour, based on experience and education
  • Shift Differential: Additional $2.00/hour from 2:00pm–11:00pm
  • Sign-On Bonus Paid out over the first 6 months of employment:
    • Full-time $1,000: $300 upon hire | $350 at 90 days | $350 at 180 days
    • Part-time: $500:  $150 upon hire | $150 at 90 days | $200 at 180 days
  • Shifts: 7:00am–3:00pm | 2:00pm–10:00pm
  • Schedule: Full time or Part time

Every Day as a Habilitation Counselor, You Will…

  • Ensure safety: Supervise and maintain the well-being of the individuals in your care at all times.
  • Engage and connect: Participate in daily ADLs, recreational, and social activities to encourage growth, confidence, and independence.
  • Coach and redirect: Address and appropriately redirect inappropriate behaviors while reinforcing positive actions through supportive communication.
  • Support progress: Implement individualized treatment plan goals and objectives while working collaboratively with the clinical team to support each person’s development.

About Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern, Pennsylvania, services include psychiatric residential treatment, acute inpatient psychiatric hospital services, assessment services, community-based mental health services, employment training, social skills training, and approved private school educational services.

 

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related degree required. *Education Evaluation required if education was acquired outside the U.S.

 

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals with psychological, emotional and

behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism

spectrum disorders. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Proficient communication skills. Proficient computer skills (Proficient in

Outlook, SharePoint, EHR, Microsoft office). Valid driver’s license must be maintained

 

AGE: Candidates must be atleast 21 years of age.
